Sunday School

Sunday School is a treasured aspect of Christian formation. Christian Formation at Emmanuel focuses on cultivating wonder and spiritual imagination. Children and youth also learn about liturgical seasons, prayer, and community rituals. They're encouraged to apply Biblical teachings to current events and their everyday lives and develop deeper relationships with God. We currently offer three classes from September to June:
Pre-School: This classroom for 2-4 year olds focuses on songs, stories, and play. Our teachers create an environment of love and care for our youngest learners.
Early Elementary: This classroom for Kindergarten through 2nd grade uses the Godly Play curriculum. Our teachers focus on weaving our ancient stories around the liturgical calendar, always asking “I wonder" questions.
Elementary: This classroom for 3rd to 6th grade uses the Holy Moly curriculum. Our teachers focus on creative telling with multimedia, visual, and hands-on materials.
Middle school/High school: Curriculum for this age range will be added as needed. All are welcome and everyone will have a classroom that fits them.
While children are in Sunday School, parents and grandparents are invited to join Parents' Coffee Hour. This social time takes places in a room next to the Sunday School rooms: close enough to keep an eye on the kids, but far enough away to take a deep breath and enjoy a cup of coffee and conversation!
All are welcome!
