Lessons & Carols - 2019

On Saturday, December 14 at 5pm, Emmanuel Episcopal will host a Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols.
Based on the tradition of the Christmas service broadcast annually from King's College Cambridge, England, the service features both the Emmanuel Festival Choir, Wayne Hatwich, director, and Trish Rooney, organist, and readers from the greater Rockford community.
Readers will include: Erna Colborn, a financial advisor for Edward Jones; Leadell Schmitt, a youth member of Emmanuel; Meredith McKay Stoll, a planned giving specialist for Crusader Clinic; Hannah Warren, marketing coordinator for Womanspace; Andre Brass, assistant chief of police for the Rockford Police Department; and the Very Rev. Thomas Rosa.
The music for this Service will be:
“Once in Royal David’s City”
“O Love, How Deep”
“Adam Lay Ybounden”
“Sicut Locutus Est”
“For Unto Us”
“O Little Town”
"A Maiden Most Gentle”
“Today the Virgin”
“God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen”
“The Wexford Carol”
“Falan-Tiding”
“It Came Upon the Midnight Clear”
“O come, all ye faithful”
“Hark! the herald-angels sing”
The Service is free and open to the public. A free will offering will help support the music ministry at Emmanuel.
