Greetings from The Rev. Wm. Nesbit
Hello Emmanuel! By now you are aware that I will be your Interim Rector for the next year. I am looking forward to this journey together and the opportunity to get to know you better, and vice versa. To help you know me better, I thought I would give you a brief bio.
I have been a priest for 22 years, almost all of them in the Diocese of Chicago. I have served in 4 different parishes in the diocese, two in parish ministry and two of them as an interim. For the last year and a half I have been serving as the Interim Rector at Grace Church, Jefferson City, in the Diocese of Missouri. In addition to parish work I have been active in diocesan leadership, serving on Standing Committee, Diocesan Council, Congregations Commission. My passion though, is young people, serving on the Camp Chicago board, Youth Commission, and multiple tours as chaplain at Camp Chicago.
Prior to the priesthood, I was a pharmacist for 14 years, ending my time as the Pharmacy Supervisor at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village.
I am married to Beverly and we celebrated 34 years last September. Beverly works in the financial services industry at Benjamin F. Edwards in Geneva. We have two boys; Nate 28, and Sam 21. Nate teaches Physics at Chicago Bulls College Prep, a charter school near the United Center, and Sam is a Junior at Western Illinois University studying Criminal Justice and in the ROTC. He is planning a career in the Army and is serving in the National Guard while going to school. Nate will be getting married in June to Caitlyn Butler, a delightful Methodist Minister.
In my time off I love to read and play games of all kinds. When the weather is nice I like to camp, canoe, and hike. I recently took up flying (about 6 years ago) and if I can find an Evektor to rent nearby, you may lose me to flight every so often when the skies are clear. I find it a wonderful way to relax.
I hope this has helped. If you want to know more, I respond well to invitations to conversation around coffee or lunch!
