Children at Heart

A service with and for Young Children and their families and friends takes place on Sunday mornings from 9:00AM to 9:30AM.

At Emmanuel we believe in the importance of worship where children are included and important...

where ;ittle ones will sing songs and hear sermons they can understand,

and where they will serve in special roles throughout the service.

You can relax knowing that your children are accepted and loved, wiggles and all.

Saturday Soup Kitchen

Emmanuel Episcopal Church volunteers served a midday Christmas dinner on Dec. 24th.  Pictured above Left and clockwise, Sandy and Adrienne, servers;   Zak, Rick, and Jake brass trio providing jazzy carols; Dan, Tony, Stan, Tyler, cooks; McKenzie and Jeff, clean up crew.

Each and every Saturday at the Jubilee Center next door to the church the doors come open at noon and a line of 100-200 individuals comes into the Center to share a full, hot meal, prepared and served by volunteers from Emmanuel or one of several churches, mosques or organizations in the Rockford area.

Emmanuel Episcopal Church started this soup kitchen 23 years ago.  15 other groups have signed on to take one or more Saturdays to do the cooking, serving and clean up.  Emmanuel members work the kitchen on a Saturday only about every 60 days now.

If you would like to work as a volunteer at the soup kitchen please leave a message for Stan McGroarty, 815-985-6997.  If your church, club, agency or professional group would like to become one of the crews, you may also contact Stan.  To take responsibility for the entire process, you will need several volunteers and an allocation for groceries.  The work crew assembles at 10:30 AM on Saturdays and is often finished with cleanup a little before 2 PM.

If you know someone who needs a meal, ask them to come to the Jubilee Center at the corner of Park and Court Streets at noon on Saturday.  There is no charge for the meal.
