Spring Luncheon (May 8)
Every ending has a beginning, and on Thursday, May 8th, Shelter Care’s Spring Luncheon speaker, Mamie McCullough, will remind us that every day is a new opportunity.  In overcoming poverty with eight siblings and her widowed mother, abusive neighbors and a bout with cancer, she serves as a constant reminder that every day can be a new beginning. She shares life-changing principles instrumental in providing others with ideas, suggestions and facts on how to "get life together." Come join us to this inspiring and entertaining speaker as she visits Rockford and helps raise money for the Shelter Care Housing Program!

Downtown Vacation Bible School (July 21-24)
For the second year, Emmanuel and three of our Downtown neighboring churches will hold Downtown Vacation Bible School July 21-24 for children 4 years old through completing 5th grade.  Emmanuel will host VBS on the first day, with Second Congregational UCC, First Presbyterian, and Court Street Methodist churches hosting the following days (in that order).

Learning from our pilot experience last year, some changes will be made to better accommodate the needs of our community and volunteers:Downtown VBS will be from 11:00 a.m.—4:00 p.m.

Lunch and an afternoon snack will be served daily.Volunteer time commitments will be reduced so we can all feel energized and have fun. The air conditioning unit in the Youth Center will be operational!

There will be two orientation meeting options for VBS volunteers, including  Monday, June 23 at 6:30 p.m. or July 13 at noon, with a meal served at each. Please e-mail Amy Gustafson to express interest in helping this to be a meaningful and fun experience for the children of the Downtown churches and neighborhood.

Confirmation (November 30)
